Strad model Cello, "Lucille"

Lucille is a Strad model cello Thurmond Knight made in 1996, dedicated to his Aunt Lucille DePamphilis.  Maple for the ribs, back and scroll are all from Bavaria, taken from trees cut in the 1950s.  The spruce top is from the Mittenwald area forests, cut in 1954.

Her willow blocks are from North Carolina, and her bass bar and sound post are from New Hampshire red spruce cut in 1866, and salvaged from the second longest wooden covered bridge in the world which spans the Connecticut River between Windsor, Vermont and Cornish, New Hampshire.

Lucille is owned by Tom Penrose, a cellist in Springfield, Illinois.
