Made by Thurmond Knight in 1995, this 16 1/4 inch viola is modeled after Andreas Amati and is dedicated to Thurmond's wife, Bethany. The two piece red maple back is well flamed. Top is of two pieces of straight even grained spruce. Neck wood matches the back and ribs. The instrument was owned and played for the past 5 years by a member of the community orchestra in Springfield, Illinois, and has a wonderfully quick response with mature tone color and projection.
