Latimer Hoke Violin 2012
This violin, made by Thurmond Knight, was commissioned by Latimer Hoke, well known fiddler in Vermont, in the early summer of 2012. It is modeled after the 1733 Guarneri del Gesu' previously owned by Fritz Kreisler, now in the Library of Congress. The Sitka spruce top hails from Northwest Canada. The highly figured one-piece maple back is from New Hampshire; the maple ribs and neck originated in Bavaria. This instrument is dedicated to the memory of my mother, Ellen Frances Simmons, 1921-2012. |
