Messiah Violin 2020

The Messiah Violin, #74, made by Thurmond Knight and dedicated to the memory of his grandmother, Catherine Belle Geiger Knight, was made in his Barton, Vermont shop in the summer of 2020.  The instrument is modeled after a violin made by Antonio Stradivari in 1716, known as the "Messiah."  The two-piece spruce top is of fine even grain.  The two-piece maple back is highly figured with the maple of the sides matching.  Oil varnish is of a light brown color with gold highlights.  The tone is warm and full, with dark viola-like tones on the bottom end, and a very silvery top end.  Projection is excellent with quick response.  The instrument was sold to a violinist in Montpelier, Vermont.
