John Rowell Violin 1966 John Rowell of Canaan, Vermont, made this violin in 1966. The instrument is modeled after Stradivarius. The oil varnish is in very good condition. As John often did with his varnish, he used two colors--the top is amber, and the scroll, ribs and back are of a beautiful red. The top is of two pieces of medium grained spruce. The two-piece back is of highly flamed maple . The tone is warm with excellent projection and a well rounded sound. This violin was sold in 2020.
