Charles R. Ladd Violin 1839
Charles R. Ladd of Springfield, Mass. made and owned this violin in 1839. It was restored in 1899 by C. G. Spalding. It has a two piece spruce top of straight even grain, and a single piece well flamed maple back. The instrument is in very good condition, and has been fully restored. There is a spruce top crack that has been well repaired from the bottom of the right F hole extending down to the edge. Sound quality is excellent with good projection. |
