Mona Violin 2001
The Mona Violin was completed May 12, 2001 and is modeled after Fritz Kreisler's 1733 Guarneri del Gesu'. It is dedicated to one of Thurmond's former violinmaking students, Mona the Stilt Dancer. Both the top and back of the instrument were cut in the Canadian forests in 1914. The two-piece spruce top has close even grain; the two piece maple back is highly figured. Mona is owned by Dave Poplawski of Westmore, Vermont. |
