Oskar C. Meinel Violin 1955 The Roth Company in Markneukirchen, Saxony, began production of the Oskar Meinel instruments in the 1950s in order to increase sales in the U.S. This violin, made in 1955, was modeled after Antonio Stradivarius, and was hand made with excellent materials. The two-piece spruce top is of fine to medium straight grain, with some areas of highly desired hazel figure. The two piece maple back is of fine tight curl; the ribs are of similar material. The tone is mature with excellent resonance, very good projection and response time. The violin is now for sale in my shop for $3500. |
