Violin from Saxony ca. 1880
This violin was made in Saxony, most probably in Markneukirchen, circa 1880. It is in excellent condition and plays easily with a warm, full bodied tone; is even across the strings. The instrument is modeled after Stradivari. The label is Thurmond Knight's repair label, dated 2007. Restoration included re-setting the neck to the proper angle; graduation of the top, back and ribs; planing and smoothing the fingerboard; setup with new soundpost, bridge, Thomastic Vision strings, Wittner tailpiece, and boxwood chinrest.
