Maker of Violins, Violas and Cellos

Sylvarus Brady Violin, 1927

This violin was made by Sylvarus Brady in North Cambridge, Mass, in 1927.  He is listed in Thomas James Wenberg's The Violin Makers of the United States.

The listing reads as follows:  " Brady, Sylvarus: N. Cambridge, MA.  Violin maker.  Worked there c. 1903.  French style with full arching, long purfling bee-stings.  Back has one side slab cut and the other quartered.  Neck appears pre-carved.  Another, labeled "Davarius Brady" is said to be on a Strad model; however, it is in all respects the maker's own.  The real name of the maker is unknown."

The violin is in near perfect condition and has a wonderful warm sound that projects very well.
Sale Price: $2200.00.
