Alexander Gaglianus

This instrument is modeled after a violin made by Alexander Gaglianus in the 18th century.  The label, as seen in the bass F hole reads: “Alexander Gaglianus me fecit Neapolli 1766.”  The spruce top has a lot of attractive figure and what appears to be “hazel.”  The one piece maple back has very fine figured flame slanting slightly upward from the left side.  Fittings include Wittner planetary geared pegs, decorated with inlay tailpiece, redwood chin rest and is fitted with Tonica strings with Pirastro Gold Label String.  Tone is mellow.  Sale Price:$840.
