James Lawrence Gilbert of Burke, Vermont, made this violin in 2020, modeled after Antonio Stradivari. James has apprenticed with Thurmond Knight for 6 years, and has produced a number of fine violins and violas. This instrument has a beautiful red-brown varnish over a gold ground. The two-piece top is of medium grain spruce and the one-piece maple back is highly flamed. The tone is even across all the strings. Projection and clarity is excellent. This would be an instrument used by an orchestral player or a soloist.
Price: $3200.
