Strad Model 1965

This Stradivari model violin was made in 1965 in Eastern Europe.  The instrument is in good condition with some bare varnish issues.  There are three repaired cracks to the spruce top.  None of the cracks involve the sound post or bass bar.  The label inside the bass F hole reads: Polastri Gaetano, Bologna 1926.  This is a false label.  The violin is setup with all ebony parts with the exception of the tailpiece, which is composite made by the Wittner Co. in Germany.  There is an ebony insert protecting the edge of the C-bout on the treble side from possible bow damage.  Varnish is in fair condition with some bare spots.  Varnish is light yellow over gold ground.  Spruce top has irregular staight grain with a sliver of bark inclusion in the treble lower bout.  The two piece maple back has medium flames running horizontally across the back.  Tone is very large and soloistic.  Sale Price: $1400.
